Cloistered Dominican Nuns Corpus Christi Monastery

What Is It You Seek?

Discernment Days 2015 web

Our life as Dominicans is dedicated in a particular way to the Word of God, everything we do flows from this dedication, all of our preaching, our teaching…our prayer and devotion is centered in a special ways upon the Word.

Whether our lives are spent out in the vineyards of the Lord, preaching that Word, or spent behind monastery walls contemplating that Word, the life of a Dominican is one that has been pierced to the heart by the power of the Word of God…sharper than any two-edged sword…cleaving soul from spirit, joint from marrow…

we ourselves have been pierced by the love of the Word…in turn, we desire nothing more than to confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and to find grace for timely help, both for ourselves and for the world…

This was part of the message Fr. Ambrose Sigman, O.P. shared with the young women who came to our last “Come-And-See” Day in January.  Thanks to your prayers and support, and those of our Dominican family, we had a beautiful vocation day in which many of the women told us they felt a strong presence of the Holy Spirit guiding them as they joined us for a full day of prayer, reflections, conferences, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction.

We’ve been so excited to hear from so many young women discerning their vocation.  So, to accommodate the increasing numbers registering for our discernment days, we’re planning two more for the year!  However, we also want to make sure we are able to talk with each woman who is interested, so we are limiting the number of participants.  As we continue to promote a culture of vocation for our holy Mother Church, we are grateful for our friars of the Western Dominican Province and their support of time, knowledge and prayers for their sisters as together we continue on our path of ‘Holy Preaching’ for the salvation of souls.

If you know Catholic single women between the ages of 18 and 40, encourage them to discern God’s call in their life and invite them to join us.  Time and again we hear and experience how important it is for these young women to have someone support them on their journey.
