Cloistered Dominican Nuns Corpus Christi Monastery

What a Weekend for Vocations!

What a weekend!  Our hearts are filled to overflowing with gratitude to all those who came out to spend an hour with Jesus, praying for vocations to the priesthood and religious life for our Archdiocese of San Francisco, and for those who organized this event.

We began with Mass at 8 a.m. yesterday and were joined by Rev. David Schunk, vocations director for the Archdiocese of San Francisco.  Then the nuns were privileged to witness the testimony given by all those faithful who visited our chapel throughout the day.  Materials were provided by the Archdiocese and made available for the hour – Scripture passages and a vocations prayer.

Adoration Prayer PamphletsHour by hour, you came and sat quietly.  Some came with large groups.  Others slipped in alone to sit before the Blessed Sacrament.  The prayerful presence of so many was a beautiful testimony to our hunger for God and our need for priests and religious.

We concluded the weekend event with Mass this morning and a light reception in the parlor.  What joy!

We are very grateful to Fr. David Schunk and all at the Archdiocese for coordinating the “24 Hours with the Lord – Prayer for Vocations” event.  We are also grateful to Deacon Dominick Peloso and the parishioners at the Church of the Nativity for their help in keeping the night Adoration. During our reception after Mass, it was agreed between the nuns and people, we hope it won’t be the last! Thank you!

And we are very grateful to all those who committed to spend a holy hour for vocations.  You are a blessing to us and the Church.

Please continue to support and foster vocations to the priesthood and religious life: pray, invite and encourage!  If not you, than who?
