Tenebrae, from the Latin word for “darkness,” is the term given to the liturgical office of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday. Dominicans have continued to pray Tenebrae each year as a particular tradition of our Order.
As part of Tenebrae, we chant the Lamentations of the Prophet Jeremiah. The final passage on Holy Saturday is the Prayer of Jeremiah from Lamentations chapter 5.
Here’s a glimpse of Lent and particularly the Triduum in our Monastery.
May we spend these final hours before our Lord’s resurrection meditating on his tremendous love and sacrifice for us!
