Sixty-five years ago today, our Sister Maura of the Holy Spirit, O.P. professed her first vows. Originally from Montreal, Canada, Sister Maura considered the field of medicine and studied philosophy and theology before answering Jesus’ call to contemplative life.
Over the years, Sr. Maura served the community as: painter of illuminations and calligraphy, habit seamstress, chantress, cook, mistress of lay sisters, mistress of novices, librarian, portress, sacristan, subprioress, infirmarian and worked in the altar bread department. She presently serves as our librarian, refectory reader, and fields many requests for stories from our younger sisters and aspirants. Multos annos, Sister Maura!
