Cloistered Dominican Nuns Corpus Christi Monastery

Deo Gratias!

What a wonderful, grace-filled day!  It started with a Solemn High Mass according to the Dominican Rite, followed by short talks by Fr. Ambrose Sigman, OP, our prioress, Sr. Maria Christine, O.P., and Richard, a member of the Dominican laity.  The presenters shared about the similar and unique ways the Dominican charism is lived today by the friars, nuns, and laity.  Finally, we had a reception in our parlor – a chance to meet with people – some old friends and now some new friends!  Here are a few pics of today’s Mass from the “inside” perspective.

Several of our candidates and aspirants were able to attend today’s festivities and we relished the sharing and communion that unfolded throughout the morning.  As we continue this Year of Consecrated Life, please keep praying for vocations to the consecrated life, and that those called will be granted the grace and fortitude to persevere – whether still discerning or a professed religious for fifty years, this life, like all vocations, requires God’s grace daily.

We are so grateful to everyone who made this day of prayer, reflection and communion, in honor of the Year of Consecrated Life, possible: Fr. Ambrose Sigman, O.P., our celebrant, speaker, and chaplain to the Dominican laity; Fr. Christopher Fadok, O.P., our deacon and pastor of St. Raymond Church; Fr. Robert Verrill, O.P., our subdeacon and a member of the Province of England; the novices of the Western Dominican Province (who served for the Mass – their first!); Rev. Br. Gabriel Mosher, O.P., who tirelessly trained and coached us and the novices, and helped coordinate details of the Mass; Br. Thomas Aquinas Pickett, O.P., who joyfully wrote the chant accompaniments; Jill Mueller, our outstanding (and very patient!) organist and music teacher; Charo Paguirre, O.P., prioress of the Dominican laity and the members of the Dominican laity of the Corpus Christi chapter for their generosity in helping sponsor and coordinate this event…the list goes on.  Looking back on the day, it truly was a beautiful example of Dominican family and friends, coming together in honor of our Blessed Mother, to give praise and worship to God.

Now, with hearts full of joy, we settle back into silence and prayer…and the sound of the bells throughout the day calling us to the chapel to worship God and pray, for His glory and the salvation of souls.

Will you join us?
