A Moment’s Meditation: Pentecost Saturday

Ask the Holy Spirit for the gift of Fear, which inspires us with profound respect for the majesty of God, a lively fear of displeasing Him, an instinctive horror of sin.  The life of St. Louis Bertrand offers us a beautiful example of this salutary fear; it caused his cell to resound with sobs of contrition, filled him with piety and made him so persuasive in inducing others to redeem the time and conquer their passions.

Prayer: O Holy Spirit, give me a fear of mortal and venial sin!

Practice:  Examine yourself on your abuse of God’s grace.
