Cloistered Dominican Nuns Corpus Christi Monastery

A Moment Meditation – Wednesday of the 2nd week of Advent

Readings: Is 40:25-31, Ps 103 O bless the Lord, my soul!, Mt 11:28-30

We shall run and not grow weary when we answer His summons: Come to me and I will give you rest. I am meek and humble of heart, I who cannot be equaled who govern the army of the stars. None are missing when I send them out and I call and they joyfully respond, “Here we are.”

Now, I stand a man, a son of a woman, and I cry out in the marketplace, in the Temple and in the square, “come to me, learn from me.” To the laborer I implore, “take my yoke upon you for it is easy and my burden is light.” In this light you will see Light itself. You will be light and rise up to fly like eagles.

I do not command you as I command the stars though I am your creator as much as I am theirs. I invite you, I weep and I plead. I am weak for you, I whose strength never fails. Come, approach; I am no longer inaccessible. I have come to save my people, will you turn to me and be saved? Let me strengthen you, let me recreate you, I love you. Will you hear my still small voice? It is familiar, like your own.

My heart too is yours. How I love you! How small, I the almighty, the great God, have become for you! Come, then, little as you are, come to me. For the kingdom belongs to little ones. Come, enter into your master’s joy. And you will find peace for yourselves. I call your name.
