As part of the celebration of the 800th Jubilee year of the Order of Preachers, the Order has organized a special year-long event for the Dominican nuns. Throughout the jubilee year, the Order has designated the monasteries of Dominican nuns around the world to host the “itinerant” Rosary. Last Saturday, our monastery had the privilege of hosting the rosary pilgrimage.
We began with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. The celebrant and homilist was Fr. Reginald Martin of the Order of Preachers and director of the Rosary Center in the Western Dominican Province.
After Mass, the Blessed Sacrament was exposed for adoration and we prayed the Rosary in common, led by Ms. Charro Aguirre, O.P., prioress of the Dominican Laity of Corpus Christi.
Finally, refreshments were served and we had the joy of visiting together in the parlor.
We also had available rosary booklets (with intentions written by our nuns) and rosaries (handmade by our nuns with Bethlehem olive wood beads). Also available were the rosary CDs and other materials, produced by our community.
We were joined by many of our friends and benefactors, as well as Dominican laity and Sisters. A big thank you to everyone that joined us and for Fr. Reginald and the Dominican laity who worked hard to help us prepare and host the event. It was a beautiful example of Dominican family working together!
If you missed the event, you can still join in the jubilee celebrations. An indulgence is available for those that make a visit to our chapel during the Jubilee Year (under the usual conditions), and if you are interested in obtaining handmade rosaries, booklets, or other rosary materials, please feel free to send us an email at email@example.com. Also, if you happen to be in another part of the world near a Dominican monastery, check out their date for their celebration of the itinerant Rosary and join our sisters there on that day!
